HOW NORDLYS® WORKS

SWT® (Selective Waveband Technology) IPL. Traditional Broadband IPL, (Intensive Pulse Light) cosmetic lasers use a frequency range usually between 400nm to 1200nm which limits their ability to treat a specific concern. However, the Nordlys™ System’s SWT® technology allows us to safely target and treat a specific areas of concern such as blood vessels or melanin with narrow bands of light. And because it generates less heat in the skin, results can be achieved in fewer treatments.
The CANDELA® Nordlys™ System’s Frax 1550™ and Frax 1940™ applicators. Frax lasers are “non-ablative laser that do no harm to the surface of your skin. AN EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR ACNE
The vast majority of acne conditions are cause by the sebaceous glands overproducing sebum and causing oily skin. Excess sebum becomes trapped in hair follicles which irritates skin and causes acne.
The Nordlys™ system GENTLY treats acne using a narrow light wavelength that reduces the blood supply to the sebaceous gland to slow the production of sebum. AFTER YOUR LASER SKIN RESURFACING TREATMENT
SWT® IPL Treatments: Generally speaking these treatments involve heating the skin or hair follicle with light at varying levels. As a result, patients will usually experience some skin sensitivity after their SWT® IPL treatment. That said, most of our patients return to their daily activities after their treatment. We will be able to properly set your expectations during your courtesy consultation.
Frax 1550™ and Frax 1940™ Treatments: As we mentioned, the majority of fractional laser treatments are more about tricking the skin in a non-ablative way to cause it to produce collagen that rapidly builds new skin. Most often, fractional laser treatments are performed to improve the appearance and conditions such as those listed below. These types of fractional laser treatments have minimal side effects and require little if any downtime, and results are often visible after the 1st or 2nd treatment.
- Fine lines, creases and wrinkles
- Scars and stretch marks
- Brown spots, age spots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation
- Bumpy and uneven skin surface
Nd:YAG 1064 nm Laser Treatments: After spider vain treatments, patients may experience some minor swelling and some bruising that should fade after a week or so. Treated vessels will gradually lighten from dark blue to light red and then disappear in 2 to 6 weeks depending on the treatment. Recovery after treatments for rosacea, for skin that has developed a red or sunburned appearance and for other similar skin condition can vary greatly depending on the seriousness of the condition.
